(MOUNTAIN IRON, MN) –The Coalition for a Secure Energy Future (The Coalition) is announcing a series of “Energy Champion” awards to a group of Minnesota legislators. Recipients of the award have championed an all-of-the-above energy strategy for Minnesota to ensure that consumers and businesses have access to affordable and reliable electricity.
“The Coalition is proud to recognize Sen. Tom Bakk as a dedicated leader for his work on behalf of hardworking Minnesotans who count on reliable and affordable electricity,” said Luke Hellier, Director for the Coalition for a Secure Energy Future. “Sen. Bakk has been a lifelong advocate to ensure we utilize our diverse energy resource as well supporting policies that protect jobs and ensure the region is globally competitive. We continue to be grateful for his leadership”
Sen. Bakk is being recognized as the first Lifetime Achievement – Energy Champion Award. This is his second award.
“It is an honor to receive this award,” said Bakk. “Minnesota needs an all-of-the-above energy approach to ensure all Minnesotans have access to reliable and affordable energy. We can never take for granted the energy that powers our homes on a frigid day, or the good-paying jobs supported by our wide-ranging energy sector. This award is really a testament to the hard-working men and women who power our state.”
The award was presented to Sen. Bakk by Mark Bakk, CEO of Lake Country Power Cooperative.
